Grants & Research Programs

Research and education are the key components of our mission. Our members feel a strong responsibility to support both. Each year we award major grants to applicants selected through a peer review process and provide financial assistance to various on-going research projects. We contribute to the Orthopaedic Research & Education Foundation, Charles H. Herndon Awards and award grants to MTF members as well as other research institutions. Additionally, we support fellowships, hospital residencies, nursing education and other charitable outreach efforts. MTF also believes in the importance of recognizing donor families and their enormous contribution through donor recognition programs.

At MTF, we see our support of allograft research as a way to further our commitment to donor families and donor recipients. In this section of the site, we've collected research and education opportunities along with other resources for advancing allograft tissue science.

MTF member institutions and their affiliates may obtain human tissue for research by applying to our Research Tissue Program. Each proposal is reviewed by our Medical Director and our President.

Science awards are designed to support the advancement of allograft transplantation and alternatives. Grants will be offered at up to $100,000 per year; and indirect costs are limited to 20%. Researchers at all accredited institutions are encouraged to apply.
